Capture before it's gone
Open Aura, hit the red button, sing or hum your idea, hit it again to stop. The moment you finish, Aura analyzes the recording and tells you the key, scale, tempo, and vibe — all on-device, instantly.
Quick capture, anywhere
Aura works from the Lock Screen widget, the Action Button, and Siri. Say "Record with Aura" or tap the widget — recording starts before you can second-guess yourself.
How does Aura detect the key?
Aura analyzes the pitch content of your recording using an algorithm based on the Krumhansl–Schmuckler key-finding profiles. It listens for the strongest notes, weighs them against major and minor scale templates, and picks the best match. Everything runs locally on your device — no audio is ever sent to a server.
Why isn't BPM auto-detected?
Vocal recordings rarely have the percussive transients needed for accurate beat detection. Instead, Aura lets you set the tempo before recording — tap the metronome icon, dial in your BPM, or use Tap Tempo. The tempo gets saved with your recording so you walk into your DAW with everything already labeled.
How do I export to my DAW?
Open any recording, tap the share icon (top right), and choose Share Audio for the original file or Export to MIDI to convert your melody into a MIDI clip. Filenames automatically include the key and BPM, so dragging it into Logic, Ableton, or FL Studio just works.
Where are my recordings stored?
Locally, on your device. Aura does not use the cloud, does not require an account, and does not collect any analytics or personal data. Your ideas stay yours.
What's a draft reminder?
If a recording sits untouched for 24 hours, Aura sends you a gentle nudge so the idea doesn't get forgotten. You can turn this off anytime in Settings → Notifications.
Why does Aura need microphone access?
To record your vocal ideas. That's it. The microphone is only active while you're recording, and audio never leaves your device.
Can I use Aura with headphones during recording?
Yes. If you enable the metronome click, Aura is smart about routing — the click only plays through headphones, never through the speaker, so it won't bleed into your recording. Without headphones, the click switches to silent haptic feedback during recording.
